Product Description

The Concrete Protector's Vapor Gauge Moisture Test is a standard calcium chloride test kit for measuring the moisture vapor emission rate of concrete slabs prior to coating or flooring installation. An inexpensive and reliable preventative step to help avoid decorative concrete coating installation failures caused by excess moisture. Suitable for any interior or exterior concrete surface. The 3 pack is ideal for larger projects requiring multiple test locations. Available as a single pack or 3 pack.

Key Benefits:

  • Standard test method for measuring concrete moisture vapor emission rate
  • Inexpensive and reliable preventative step before coating installation
  • Helps avoid coating failures caused by excess moisture
  • Suitable for any interior or exterior concrete surface
  • 1 test covers 1,000 sq. ft.
  • 3 pack ideal for larger projects requiring multiple test locations

Physical Properties:

  • Coverage: 1 test per 1,000 sq. ft.
  • Color: Red
  • Packaging: 3 pack

Limitations:

  • Conditions must be 65-85°F with relative humidity between 40-60% for at least 48 hours prior to and during testing
  • Do not use chemicals to clean the floor before testing
  • Avoid test locations near cracks, joints, or direct sunlight
  • Requires a gram-weight scale with a gradation of 0.1 gram

How to Use:

  1. Clean the slab of all debris and adhesive residue by shot blasting, grinding, or wire brushing
  2. Set the tape-sealed dish on a gram scale, record its weight on the dish lid and test kit booklet along with the start date and time
  3. Remove the vinyl tape from the dish and store carefully for resealing later
  4. Place the open dish on the slab with calcium chloride level inside. Do not place over a control joint or crack. Remove the white paper from the dome and center the dome over the dish
  5. Firmly seat the gasket under the dome flanges using a wire brush handle or similar tool. Apply gentle hand pressure to confirm no leaks in the gasket
  6. Place the optional safety cone over the dome and leave the test undisturbed for 60-72 hours
  7. After 60-72 hours, cut open the dome, retrieve the dish, reseal with the tape, and weigh again on the same gram scale. Record the ending weight, date, and time
