Flexkrete FlexPrime (Part A & Part B) (Special Order)

Flexkrete FlexPrime is a two-component, 100% solids primer with excellent wet-out properties for deep substrate penetration. Formulated as the bonding primer for the FlexKrete system, it may also stand alone as a rust and corrosion inhibitor on re-bar and steel surfaces. Part A is a brown-colored liquid chemically modified for water emulsification without surface active agents. Part B is a clear glyceryl tri-ester that crosslinks with Part A to enhance the chemical bond to FlexKrete. Zero VOC, highly elastomeric, and meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact.

Key Benefits:

  • 100% solids, zero VOC formula
  • Excellent wet-out properties for deep substrate penetration
  • Highly elastomeric for long-lasting flexibility
  • Stands alone as a rust and corrosion inhibitor on re-bar and steel surfaces
  • Meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact
  • Can be adjusted to a 60A/40B mix ratio for high moisture substrates

Curing Schedule (at 77°F):

  • Pot Life: 15-20 minutes (reduced if kept in mixing container)
  • Tack Free: 4-6 hours
  • Topcoat: At heavy tack
  • Cleanup: Acetone

Physical Properties:

  • Solids by Volume: 100%
  • Spread Rate: 200-400 sq ft per gallon at 3-8 mils wet/dry
  • Weight per Gallon: 8.8 lbs
  • Flash Point: Greater than 200 degrees F
  • Shelf Life: 1 year

Surface Preparation:

  • Remove dust, dirt, oil, laitance, curing compounds, and concrete sealer by power wash, acid etch, grit blast, or profiling equipment
  • Surface should be clean, dry, hard/dense, and slightly roughened
  • Surface may be damp but not saturated or ponded
  • On re-bar or steel surfaces, remove loose rust by blast or mechanical means before applying a full seal coat

Application:

  1. Combine equal parts of Part A with Part B using a power mixer and mix for approximately two minutes until a smooth, consistent mixture results
  2. Do not add new material to previously mixed parts and do not mix more than can be used within the pot life
  3. Brush, roll, or spray material onto the surface, working it into the substrate, leaving a smooth, thin coating without ridges or puddles
  4. For high moisture substrates, adjust mix to 60% Part A / 40% Part B

Limitations:

  • For professional use only
  • Minimum material and container temperature for application is 70 degrees F
  • Avoid moisture contamination in containers / do not reseal if contamination is suspected
  • Un-dried air exposed to liquid components will reduce physical properties of the cured coating
  • If maximum coating time is exceeded, brush blast or abrade surface before recoating

Mix Ratio: 1:1 by volume (standard) / 60A:40B for high moisture substrates
